What We Believe

"Blessings always follow obedience"

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of First Church of Highland Nazarene based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God and the only Savior of the world. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God. He is active in the world convicting people of sin, drawing people to salvation, guiding, helping, comforting,
and empowering Christians.

Revelation

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. And that by accepting Him as Savior, people are forgiven for their sins and will escape punishment in hell. Everyone is born with free will, and it is up to them to choose whether or not they will accept Christ as their Savior and turn away from their sins.

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, and should be an expression of the life & ministry of Jesus and the early church. A local church is a body of believers, operating biblically and growing spiritually.

Ressurection

We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ when "the dead in Christ will be raised" and believers on earth will be taken up with the Lord. Christ will take us out of all the troubles of this life to spend eternity with Him.
